John’s background, rooted in the tradition of fine English woodworking with an emphasis on craftsmanship, is central to John Parkinson Furniture’s attention to detail and quality.
John was born and raised in the North East of England, and served his woodworking apprenticeship by attending the Newcastle College of Arts and Technology, completing a 4-year City & Guilds Institute course in 1980. John Parkinson Furniture has been established in Northwest Austin, Texas since 2005.
Using time-tested methods from his training in England, John brings over 30 years experience to create one-of-a-kind pieces that balance style and function. Each design opportunity brings a unique and custom solution, whether it is creating a new piece of custom furniture or modifying an existing piece for a new use. Whatever the style, John is able to create furniture to enhance the look and feel of your home.
Our custom furniture has a modern contemporary feel emphasizing elegant lines, simplicity, form and functionality. Each piece of custom furniture is crafted using hand-selected hardwoods and furniture grade veneer plywood’s, harvested from sustainable sources, and finished with environmentally friendly clear lacquers to let the natural beauty of the grain show through. Commissions are accepted for painted pieces, although John Parkinson Furniture does not offer painting services at this time.
John Parkinson Furniture creates custom furniture and cabinetry for private and commercial clients in Austin, Texas. John’s work has been commissioned by the Austin Auction Gallery, El Arroyo Restaurant, Urbane Home Construction, Laura Britt Design, as well as a number of other interior design companies.
